Salt Lake Temple Horizontal - Sepia
These two images are different interpretations of the color image posted on Aug. 9, '07. The first is a more straightforward conversion to sepia. It has the high contrast and all the detail of the original color version.

The second is a more creative interpretation. It's got a slight soft-focus feel and is a little moodier in the darker areas. This is also one I've applied a canvas look to as well. I removed that effect for this posting because it doesn't look very good at this size and on most monitors. It looks great in a 24x30 giclee print, especially on a nice watercolor paper.

I'd be interested to hear from any of you who have a preference, and why.

Hi Richard
Your word moody is just about right on both of them, but stronger on the second one. If you will permit, I will phrase it as follows.
It is as if Götterdämmerung (Twilight of the Gods) is just around the corner, and the Temple and its meaning is the only light of hope in sight.
This is a somewhat dramatic comment, but it is the first one that came to mind.
Regards
Adam

Richard, I love photography, but I should say first that I have no training whatsoever, so that may make my opinion not count at all!

I like them both, but especially like the second one. The lines in the temple look very sharp and the overall contrast is interesting.

We got the second one for my Daughter for her wedding. Everyone loved it!!! My husband just gave me one for Mother's day. He said it was a "mother" to get! But I LOVE IT!! It is so unique and beautiful.
Still waiting with baited breath to see the Logan temple

I believe the second one has a more dramatic effect and it brings out the beauty of the Salt Lake Temple. It to me shows it's history and it's more of story than a picture. The first one is also pretty but it just doesn't do the temple the justice that it deserves like the 2nd one does. Plus the coloring is absolutely amazing in it, the clouds are more radiant in the background and it looks like the temple is a glow! It's beautiful, definitely prefer the second one!
