Mt. Timpanogos Evening - Sepia

One of the most common ways to photograph this Temple is to move to the west and shoot the Temple with the mountains in the background. I scouted all around the Temple for several hours on a couple of occasions, and decided photographing closer gave me a more powerful composition.
To create this composition I had to set up my ladder and big tripod right off of the driveway and partly on the sidewalk. It's amazing how many of the best locations are right where you find most of the people traffic. I was fortunate to have a break in patrons coming and going during the few minutes when I made several exposures. The light was nice for a long time before these great clouds came by right in time for the nice post-sunset light.
My cousin Ken lives nearby and was able to come over and keep me company. We had a good time catching up while I waited for the light to change.
I applied a slight soft-focus effect  to this image that creates sort of a glow around the darker areas. This is one of a series of new Temple images with that effect that I will have in quite a few Deseret Book stores before Christmas.....if the weather cooperates and I'm able to deliver them.

Richard, I find myself checking your blog every day now, hoping to see your latest work. I think you scored with this one. I love the clouds, the light, and the sepia. I am picking up on your style. How many will you have in the series? Will you sell them in packages? I think it would be cool to have a series hanging in the living room.

This one is fantastic. I love this Temple. My parents live close by and this is where I took out my endowments and spent hours soul searching before I went on my mission. You captured it elegantly.
