Manti Temple in Black & White
In an earlier post I mentioned this image of the Manti Temple. The light was exactly where I wanted it and the clouds from a late winter storm formed the perfect dramatic backdrop. The sun, while still slightly in the southern sky, brushed along the side of the Temple, highlighting each of the "ribs" of the structure. They, in turn, reflected enough light to fill in the shadows. Notice the right side of the left tower. Without anything but the sky to reflect light, its shadows are much darker.
Sometimes it's hit or miss with bad weather, but this particular storm was great. With only dry snow flurries I was able to leave the camera set up while waiting for the light and clouds to change. My main worry was staying warm.

Very nice shot.
My parents were sealed in this Temple.
My great grandmother lived in Ephraim.
We would drive by here frequently when I was young.

Richard, I think you hit another home run with this one. The contrast between the light and dark at the towers is cool. It is almost fairytailish.

This one is my favorite of all your pictures. I have never seen a more beautiful or unique picture of this Temple. Jason and I were married there in January - so I understand the cold. It is utterly breathtaking.

Living in Sanpete this is "our" temple. I've taken dozens of pictures of this beautiful edifice but nothing I've done comes close to capturing the majesty of this structure like you have. Outstanding!

Can you purchase prints of this? I am specifically referring to the Black and White Manti Temple Picture. We just moved to the area and it is our temple and am looking for a print for our home...I don't see any purchasing information. Please respond. Thanks.

Thank you for this wonderful photo. My Great, Great Grandfather, William Harrison Folsom was the architect for the Manti Temple. I especially like the use of B&W, as all the pictures of the construction of the temple were long before color photography was developed. Sincerely, Mark D. Bailey
